The Aerospace Engineering(AE) of Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST) can be traced back to the 1960s, supported by the strong foundation of engineering and science studies of HUST, the training of researchers and engineers specialized in Aerospace Engineering began at that time. In 2009, the Center for Aerospace Research of HUST was established. In 2011, the Institute of Aeroengine and Gas Turbine, and the Department of Aerospace of HUST were established. In 2015, the School of Aerospace Engineering(SAE) was founded. Today, Supported by the strong technical and engineering strength and sufficient research funds of HUST, and getting benefit from the rapid development of aerospace technology and engineering, the newly-built School has a very bright future.
The development orientation of HUST-SAE is a talent and research center featuring "international management system, international research atmosphere, international faculty, international talent training, Focusing on the frontier and innovation of technology". Up to now, a dynamic and creative team of outstanding teachers have been formed in HUST-SAE. Professors from famous international universities are regularly invited to visit, and academicians and specialists from home and abroad are invited to give suggestions and participate in the development of HUST-SAE. At the same time, extensive cooperation with famous international research institutes and universities (such as Georgia Institute of Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, etc.) are continuing in student training, exchange of researchers and application of research projects.
